The Gear Coupling is used to directly connect the coupling, and either end of it can be used as the main or driven end. 

The gear coupling is a coupling used to connect two shafts through an intermediate shaft. The sleeve end of the 

external gear should be connected to the intermediate shaft, and the flange end should be connected to the working 

shaft or motor shaft. When the externally toothed bushing is matched with other shaft extensions, the weight of the 

intermediate shaft shall not be greater than 2% of the circumferential force at the pitch circle meshing point calculated 

based on the nominal torque. When using CLZ type gear coupling, the critical speed of the high-speed rotating 

intermediate shaft must be checked.


The tools and equipment used in couplings are simple, versatile and low cost. Compared with cast blanks, free forging 

eliminates defects such as shrinkage cavities, shrinkage porosity, and pores, giving the blanks higher mechanical 

properties. The forging has simple shape and flexible operation. Therefore, it is of particular importance in the 

manufacturing of heavy machines and important parts. Coupling forging materials must have inspection certificates. 

If substitute materials are needed, the consent of the purchaser must be obtained and written documentation must be 

provided. Forgings should be forged on a water pressure or forging hammer with sufficient tonnage, and the forging 

should have a sufficient forging ratio to allow the entire section to be forged through to obtain a uniform structure.

Under the condition that the tooth root bending strength and tooth surface contact strength are sufficient, the tooth 

width should be determined with a large overlap, and the tooth width should not be increased blindly to avoid 

unnecessary increase in structural size. The general tooth width coefficient is 8-14. The tooth width should be determined 

by the allowable tooth root stress, and the width required for the displacement of the force point along the tooth width
