The use and adjustment of couplings

When a coupling is overloaded, the response process is relatively fast, and the disengagement of the coupling or the separation of the power input end from the output end is also relatively quick. This type of safety coupling is renowned for its excellent disengagement performance and the relatively small red area in its performance curve. A specially developed and designed disc spring with unique spring characteristics is responsible for stabilizing the adjustment range of the safety coupling and reducing the residual frictional torque at the power input and output ends when disengaged. Its working characteristics do not follow the ordinary characteristic curve, but have its own unique working characteristic curve. Like all other safety couplings that need to be controlled by inductive proximity switches or end switches, the switch travel of this type of switch ring also needs to be monitored. To ensure reliable operation even when contaminated by dirt, the control stroke of the switch ring should be as large as possible. Safety couplings that operate based on the ball-spike principle for safety assurance mostly work according to the disengagement torque. When used under conditions of high dynamic performance, the influence of resonant frequency should also be taken into account. The magnitude of the resonant frequency should be calculated, as torsional stiffness also has a significant impact on dynamic balance. The rapid and accurate design of couplings relies on the determination of the rated torque or disengagement torque. When the torque transmitted by the transmission system reaches the rated value, the coupling will play a safety protection role, disconnecting the power input and output of the transmission system. The disengagement torque is the torque input into the drive system under normal circumstances. In addition, considering the accelerating torque and other influencing factors, the comprehensive safety factor used in practical applications is 1.5. Based on this, a safety coupling can be selected.



Couplings are mainly used to connect the transmission shafts of various mechanisms. Due to the differences in mechanical equipment, the functions of various couplings are slightly different. For example, on forklifts, couplings are used to transmit power between the transmission and the drive axle. Forklifts under 3 tons, due to the short longitudinal dimension of the transmission system, generally adopt a rigid connection structure. That is, from the engine - clutch - transmission - coupling housing - drive axle, all are connected by bolts. In other words, from the engine to the drive axle, it forms a rigid whole. In the middle of the rigid whole, a gear coupling is used. Forklifts with a capacity of over 5 tons generally use universal joints due to the longer longitudinal dimensions of their transmission systems. Transmit the power to the drive axle of the forklift through the coupling.
